24 Cities in 52 Days

As many of you know, we are planning a big trip to Europe this summer!  Shawna and I have created this blog to share our adventures in Europe with our family and friends.  Hopefully we will keep it up to date after our trip as well to share what is happening in our lives.

We're very excited about our trip, which is only 3 weeks away.  I was able to take some extended time off work this summer, and Shawna of course has the summer off from teaching.  As the title of this post indicates, we will be traveling through many cities and countries over about 7 weeks.  Disclaimer: We don't really know how many cities we will visit, but the title sounds better with a definite number.

It may sound like we're trying to pack too much in, even though we have almost 2 months, but this may be our last big chance to travel for a while, so we want to see as many places as we can.  That being said, we are leaving enough flexibility in our travel plans that we can adjust the schedule and stay longer in the places we really love.  Most of our inter-European travel will involve point-to-point bus or train tickets: they're cheap, flexible, and environmentally sensitive (more so than driving or flying at least).

Here's a rough sketch of our itinerary as it stands now.  If you have suggestions or places that we must visit, don't be shy to post them as a comment on this post.  I'm sure the itinerary will continue to evolve over the next few weeks.

Ireland (various cities)
London, England
Paris, France
Switzerland (cities TBD)
Italy (Cinque Terre, Florence, Rome, Naples (maybe), Venice)
Ljubljana, Slovenia
Croatia (city\beach TBD)
Austria (Vienna, Salzburg)
Munich, Germany
Prague, Czech Republic
Berlin, Germany
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Belgium (Bruges, Dinant (maybe))

  2. Wow- what an adventure! Have a great time! It sounds like you have a lot of amazing places already on your list, but if you have time southern France is well worth a visit too!

  3. You guys are going to have a blast. Keep us posted on your whereabouts! Oh, and you have to try some aged pecorino cheese in Florence. It's powerfully good.
